Electric and Hybrid Scooters

Meet the Hero Hybrid Electric “Leap”.

First, let me say this is a weird, slick commercial that brings me back to 1990s cologne ads on Western TV. Second, with features like “LED back and front lights” who wouldn’t be in love? Ok, I’m just poking fun there, but basically this appears to be a basic scooter that uses less fuel over time. It’s by no means the end all and be all to the pollution problem in India, where it appears to be coming from. Instead, it’s giving a longer range (about 325 miles) on an average scooter. Now outside of the water-scene ad for it, this thing doesn’t scream “scenester” but it does kind of go the way of the Prius in that it’s not cute and people who are still using fuel can feel better about themselves. Those in the developing world that can afford something such as this as their transportation, are not generally doing it for the fuel savings, I suspect. Instead, it’s going to be more of a status symbol until the prices come down. Nowhere was I able to find the actual cost of this bike, but I can imagine that, at least initially, they are going to be incredibly expensive.

Anyway, this is pretty new in the world of scooting around the world. Has anyone found anything else that’s interesting? If so, send us a message and we will write a post about it, if we can. Thanks for reading!
